Need Some Idea Before Replacing Old Bathroom faucet

If you have ever tried to repair an old leaky bathroom faucet you will find out it's usually easier to just replace it with a new one. Replacing the bathroom faucet will give your bathroom a nice new look. You could add a nice bathroom towel bar also.

Always check to see what type of faucet you have when you are going to replace it. If you are getting a new washbasin, you will want one that fits the spacing of the holes.

You can remove the faucet and check or measure between the center of the faucet handles. Most of the center set faucets are designed for a washbasin with side holes that are 4 inches apart.

You can use a single hole faucet to replace a center cut one if it's plate covers the side holes. A wide spread faucet can work with side holes that are 6-20 inches apart and has to be replaced with a wide spread set.If you are using a wide spread faucet then you will have to replace it with the same.

Replacing the pop up drain is easy to do also. If you like, you can add a pop up plug also. All you need is a lift rod for the pop up mechanism and a drain T connector.

Tub and shower fitting are not as standard as a sink, so I would use the same type as the one you are replacing. Use replacement parts that are made by the same manufacturer.

Make sure to prepare your old faucet or tub and shower fitting before you replace them. The first thing to do is to use a penetrating oil on all the threaded connections. This makes it so much easier to take apart.

Then cover all drains with a small cloth so you don't drop and lose anything. When you are working in the tub or a shower be sure to put a blanket or cloth down. Drop you fitting in a bucket of 1 part water and 1 part vinegar.
